Shannon Smith is the Founder of Smith Asset Management Company, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm based in Chiefland, Florida. With decades of experience in both financial services and law, Shannon is dedicated to helping individuals and families build, protect, and transition wealth across generations.
Shannon graduated from St. Petersburg High School and went on to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned his degree in National Security and Public Affairs. While at West Point, he was a four-year starter on the varsity baseball team and served as team captain his senior year.
Following graduation, Shannon served 10 years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Officer, with assignments that included Germany and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His military service instilled the discipline, leadership, and strategic thinking that continue to guide his professional approach today.
After his military career, Shannon entered the financial services industry, working as a Financial Consultant with the Investment Trust Company of Florida in Ocoee, Florida. In 2004, he became an Investment Advisor Representative and founded Smith Asset Management Company. Shortly thereafter, he pursued a legal education and graduated cum laude from Barry University School of Law in 2005. In 2006, he established the firm’s office in Chiefland, where it continues to serve clients throughout the region.
In addition to his work as an advisor and attorney, Shannon has remained deeply committed to mentoring young people through athletics. He served as Head Coach of the Dixie County High School baseball team from 2021 through 2024 and was Assistant Coach for the Trenton High School baseball team from 2007 through 2017, including coaching on the 2013 and 2017 State Championship teams.
Shannon is actively involved in his community. He is a member of the Education Foundations of Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy Counties, a member of the Chiefland Rotary Club, and serves on the board of the Gilchrist County youth organization. He is also a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chiefland, Florida.
In his free time, Shannon enjoys hunting, boating, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He has been married for 36 years to his wife, the former Christine Pierce.
